Ingredients: 

  • 1 big egg, divided
  • pinch each of salt and cream of tartar
  • 1 ounce softened cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 3 ounces sliced gammon

Instructions: 

1. Set the oven to 300°F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper for the bread.

2. Create soft peaks by beating the egg whites with the salt, cream of tartar, and sugar. 

3. Blend the cream cheese and egg yolk until they are uniform and light yellow 

4. Once the egg whites are fully incorporated, fold them in gradually. 

5. Scoop two equal circles of batter onto the baking sheet. 

6. Bake for 25 minutes, or until the top is firm and slightly browned.

7. Butter one side of each bread circle before placing it in a skillet that has been warmed over medium heat. 

8. Top with the other bread circle, butter-side up, then sprinkle with cheese and add the sliced gammon. 

9. After a few minutes of cooking, carefully flip the sandwich over. 

10. After the cheese has melted, turn the heat off and serve.
